This handmade ceramic bowl is shaped using the traditional kurinuki technique, carved from a single block of clay. The form is organic and slightly irregular, with a calm, steady presence that reflects the natural rhythm of the hand.
Created by Ukrainian ceramic artist Andrii Tyrsa, this bowl is made from high-fired stoneware clay. Its walls are intentionally thick, giving the piece a solid weight and helping it retain warmth when preheated. The bowl feels grounded in the hands and supports slow, unhurried use.
The surface carries visible traces of the carving process, creating depth and character without decorative intent. The interior is fully glazed with a food-safe glaze, offering a smooth, practical surface for everyday use. Natural variations in form and texture are an essential part of the kurinuki process and make each bowl one of a kind.
Designed as a ceramic bowl rather than a narrowly defined tea vessel, this piece allows for personal interpretation and use. It invites a pause — a moment of stillness within daily rituals.
Use & Experience
This ceramic bowl is created for moments of pause and quiet focus. Its rounded form feels stable in the hands, while the added thickness supports heat retention during tea preparation.
The contrast between the textured exterior and the smooth glazed interior enhances the tactile experience. While suitable for matcha or tea, the bowl is intentionally open to everyday use and personal rituals, without being limited to a single function.
