This handmade ceramic bowl is created using the traditional kurinuki technique, carved from a single block of clay. The form is organic and slightly irregular, shaped to emphasize material, texture, and the natural rhythm of the hand.
Made by Ukrainian ceramic artist Andrii Tyrsa, this bowl reflects a calm, grounded approach to ceramics inspired by wabi-sabi aesthetics. The surface carries visible marks of the carving process, giving the piece depth and character without decorative elements.
The bowl is made from high-fired stoneware clay. Its walls are intentionally thicker than average, giving it a solid weight and helping it retain warmth when preheated. This quality makes the bowl comfortable to hold and well suited for slow, unhurried use.
The interior is fully glazed with a food-safe glaze, creating a smooth surface that is practical for everyday use and easy to clean. Subtle variations in texture and form are a natural result of the kurinuki process and make each piece one of a kind.
Use & Experience
This ceramic bowl is designed for moments of pause and focused use. Its rounded shape feels stable in the hands, while the added thickness supports heat retention during tea preparation.
The contrast between the textured exterior and the smooth glazed interior enhances the tactile experience. While suitable for matcha or tea, the bowl is intentionally not limited to a single function and can be used freely according to personal rituals or daily habits.
