Ceramic Yunomi – a Japanese tea cup

Yunomi is a traditional Japanese cup for everyday tea drinking. It has no lid, is comfortable in the hand and has a special aesthetic that combines simplicity and depth.
We have created our own interpretation of the yunomi – a unique handmade cup inspired by the Japanese form, but with a Ukrainian soul.

Once upon a time, in an ancient Japanese village, ceramic masters decided to create a cup that would become not just a tableware, but a true friend for everyone who drinks tea. They designed it so that you could hold it with both hands, feel the warmth of the tea and stop for a moment to enjoy the peace and harmony.

And that’s how Yunomi was born – a cup without a handle. Why without a handle? Because the handle prevents you from experiencing the whole process: gently wrapping your hands around the cup, feeling its weight, warmth and texture. There is nothing superfluous in Yunomi, only what is important for the moment of tea drinking.

Yunomi has become a symbol of simplicity and elegance, and it is often chosen in the Japanese wabisabi tradition – when beauty lies in imperfection, in what is natural and authentic. Wabisabi is when we appreciate the moments that seem insignificant, but it is they that create harmony in our lives.

People like to drink yunomi tea because it helps them to stop and feel the silence, allows them to tune in to calmness. It has no unnecessary decor, because its beauty is in its simplicity, in its feeling. Time spent with a yunomi is like a part of a small but important story, where tea and tranquillity become one.

And today we create our yunomi in the wabisabi style because we believe that every piece of clay contains beauty that needs to be felt and fills life with harmony.
